I have always loved English and pride myself in being accurate in everything spoken and written. My background includes many years of teaching in Christian schools in the Midwest, living in Illinois, Wisconsin, and Minnesota. My responsibilities included being English department liaison between Middle School teachers, teaching both Social Studies and English to 7th and 8th grade students, being Coach for the Optimist Club speech competitions (winning State 3 years running), and biannual school play speaking part mentor.

My teaching years included grades 3,4,5,6,7,and 8.

Teaching was always my first love. I enjoy working with students who want to learn, especially to improve their writing and grammar needs, helping them see and enjoy their own improvement; plus it keeps me young. I am very happy in my own skin, am moral and Christian, have a great sense of humor, am dedicated and motivated, and ready to be of service.

Grammar

It is important to grasp the many grammar rules and its usage during those all important early school years, so one's writing ability and maturity will show clearly how well one's learned good vocabulary and grammar. I enjoy helping students achieve a better understanding of good grammar and to carry that with them for life.

Reading

A part of excellent reading and comprehension is understanding how words are used to enhance meanings, and using better vocabulary will create a love for reading because it is interesting. I am qualified to help a student develop reading skills, which includes analyzing texts and having greater ability to write with good sentence structure and vocabulary.

English

Youngsters needs a solid foundation in how to pronounce new vocabulary words, know their meanings and putting those words into good sentences. From that will come a greater joy in reading and creating stories which children love to imagine, then put on paper. I hope, with my skills, your young child will grow to love English and use it well in speaking and writing.

Proofreading

As a prior English teacher and Operations Manager of a company, my English writing skills were used continually. I am most proficient in creative writing techniques and proofreading capabilities. I have strong grammar and vocabulary usage.

Phonics

I am able to teach basic phonetic skills for reading readiness to all elementary grade students. I am proficient in teaching vowel and consonant usage, comprehension, along with word development and reading ability.
