About Tom

Before a career in the US Army defense organization TRADOC, I was a middle school and high school mathematics teacher and coach in Iowa for six years. I taught courses ranging from remedial math to algebra, geometry, and trigonometry. I also regularly applied upper level mathematics in my duties as an Operations Research Analyst in federal service. I adjust my style of tutoring to the needs and abilities of my students, much the same way as a coach develops a game plan according to the abilities of his players. The patience and understanding I exhibit has been demonstrated by the success my sons have attained, earning engineering degrees at Texas Tech University, and graduate level degrees at Johns Hopkins University. Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
