Reading, Writing and Math Tutor (Certified Reading Specialist)

I am available for tutoring math, reading and writing, English language, and students with dyslexia. I am a Reading Specialist, with a Master's in Education. Extensive experience in teaching and tutoring.

I will also help prepare for the STAAR Test, and for the ACT/SAT. After thorough evaluation, I tailor the strategies to each individual student's needs. Previous students showed significant improvement, which was reflected in their grades.

Elementary (K-6th)

I have a Masters' degree, Bachelors of Arts, and a 3 year Teachers Diploma. I have 20 years experience in teaching Math, English Language Arts, Social Studies, History, Geography, Science and Art.

I taught students from pre-school to high school. I also worked with non-English speaking students.
I enjoy teaching Elementary (K-6th grade) students.

Phonics

I have a Masters degree in Education and the focus of my studies was on all aspects of Reading, which include Phonemic awareness and Phonics. I am a licensed Reading Specialist with 20 years experience as a teacher. I have tutored many students whose grades improved significantly.

Study Skills

I have a Masters degree in Education with 20 years of experience as a teacher. I have taught many students who struggle to learn / study. I am a hands-on teacher who can help students to use different learning modalities to learn and many strategies to study and to actually remember what has been learned.

Dyslexia

I have a Masters degree in Education and the focus of my studies was on Dyslexia. I am a licensed Reading Specialist. I have experience in teaching students with Dyslexa, also ADHD.

Speech

I have a Masters degree in Education and the focus of my studies was on all aspects of Reading. Part of my studies was focused on Linguistics, about the nature of human language. As a teacher I was closely involved with students who prepared for debate competitions. Public speaking does not come naturally to all students. I am a very practical teacher who are able to bring out the best in even the most introvert student.

TAKS

I have 20 years of teaching experience and I continuously helped students to prepare for standardized tests. After TAKS has been replaced with STAAR, I have helped students and parents to understand the more rigorous way of testing. I will be helping students developing the capacity to analyze, synthesize, and critically evaluate content that is complex, challenging, or requires multiple steps to infer a solution or solve problems in stead of just understanding and remembering.

Social Studies

I have a Masters degree in Education with 20 years of experience as a teacher. I am a very enthusiastic, hands-on Social Studies teacher. I taught Geography, History, Science and Art to elementary and middle school students. I have tutored many students whose grades improved significantly.
