Writing is hard. As a writing professor, I know, first-hand, how difficult and frustrating it can be to become proficient at writing and not feel like a failure. As a tutor, I will help students with the writing process from the first stage of pre-writing and brainstorming to the last stage of drafting and polishing. It takes a combination of content and voice to ensure that the writing is alive and interesting for the reader. I have much to share and simple exercises that can help a student tackle writing and feel comfortable with any writing assignment whether it be a personal essay, argument or critical paper.
The approach I take is mini-lessons targeted at the areas of need such as grammar, writing or understanding literary elements in literature. It is important to understand the weaknesses before they can be turned into strengths. By assessing the weak areas, we can create a solution that empowers the student by maximizing a student's chances of undertaking a successful academic career.
