Hi! I am looking forward to determining what your needs are and meeting them.

I began tutoring in 1994, and have taught all levels of math between Basic Math and Calculus (and Statistics) at the middle school, high school, and college levels, public and Christian. I also love homeschoolers!

I have a Master's degree in Mathematics, a Texas teaching certificate (secondary math), and a Bachelor's degrees in Communications-Writing (I excel in grammar). I bring a lot of experience and many possible tutoring methods to bear on the situation, depending on your needs.

I care about my students and exemplify that "love is patient" (1 Cor 13.4a).

How may I serve you?

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Algebra 1

I have successfully taught Algebra 1/Elementary Algebra since 1995 at the junior high, high school, and college levels. I have used almost every kind of curriculum imaginable, including CSCOPE. I have been a master of the material and of meeting student needs.

Algebra 2

I have taught Algebra 2 many times since 1995. I'm looking forward to breaking it down for you!

Bible Studies

I am a graduate of Moody Bible Institute, Chicago, where every student at least minors in Bible. I have three years' formal training in Bible, theology, and apologetics, including five semesters of New Testament Greek, which I read daily. I have translated the book of Ruth from the Septuagint. I have been approved as an Elder after examination by a presbytery of the Presbyterian Church in America.

Calculus

As an undergraduate math major, I had four quarters of Calculus, two semesters of advanced Calculus, and one of ordinary differential equations. As a graduate math major, I had two semesters of Real Analysis and one of partial differential equations. I have taught Calculus for over 10 years, and tutored it for over 15.

Geometry

I have taught and tutored the interesting and beautiful subject of geometry since 1995. I'm looking forward to developing you, the student, in Geometry!

Logic

I did "A" work in introductory logic and Symbolic Logic. I have taught the logic chapters (including connectives, truth tables, equivalence, and arguments) in liberal arts math many times. I have taught the logic-related sections in Geometry many times. I have made use of my knowledge of logic in tutoring.

Prealgebra

I began teaching and tutoring Prealgebra in 1995. This pattern has continued through the Fall of 2013. I have used countless curricula and methods. You can succeed!

Precalculus

I began teaching precalculus at the college level over ten years ago, and have continued through the June of 2012 school year at the high school level. I have done so with much success, and look to continue to do the same for many years into the future!

SAT Math

I have successfully helped students with their SAT and ACT exam prep since 1994.

Statistics

On the way toward my MS in math, I succeeded in at least four Statistics classes, including two in Mathematical Statistics.
I began teaching Statistics almost 10 years ago!

Trigonometry

I have successfully taught trigonometry for over 10 years. I'm looking forward to breaking it down for you!
