Good day,
I am a certified teacher for English and reading with three years classroom experience. I have also been a private tutor through the late '90s and early part of '00s. I tutored for my university in all subject areas; I simply asked for the area a day in advance to integrate the material before the session (as some subjects I had never taken before). I was then commissioned through the state to work for DARS, then called TRC and TCB, basically clients with disabilities, physical and learning.
What can I tutor? I am comfortable with English, literature, reading, grammar, test prep (including TAKS, AP, ACT, SAT, GED, etc.), and the soon to be STAR/EOC testing. I can assist with Math at least through pre-Algebra, perhaps further if given the materials a day in advance. Example for math, I orally administrate the TAKS math for 9th grade, I could correctly answer 90% of the questions in my head while giving the test. Social studies, I am familiar with the flow of US History, some World History, and adequate with religious or geographical influences. Science I could assist with elementary and middle school levels. Electives, I was involved in theater for eight years (acting and production), I ran my university's TV studio and assisted the radio studio, I use Macs and PC with excellent base knowledge of common applications, but I cannot help much with athletic areas.
What I expect from any student: Be prepared, be honest, and be open to learning. I have high expectations for all my students to their ability. I've taught special education students to AP students, while their abilities differ, I raise the bar of their level. I am challenging, because I want my students to succeed.
