Hi! I have 13 years of experience as a classroom science teacher between Frisco ISD and Katy ISD. My experience includes working with special education students, gifted students and regular education students. I have several tools/techniques to share! My duties over the years have included not only teaching, but being an instructional coach which allowed me to help teachers to become better teachers. I have also presented information for teachers at several conferences, including 2 at Johnson Space Center.
My tutoring approach is to first to work with the student on homework. As we work through the homework we can see where areas are of difficulty are and I can help them better understand the material. If the student does not have any homework then we will go over classroom work to see where they need help or just to review. We can also do some hands on activities if the student still is not grasping the material covered in class. Next, we can go over classroom notes for further understanding and come up with ways that are successful for the student to retain the information taught such as flash cards or quizzes. These will serve as study aids for the student to use outside of tutoring. I firmly believe that any student can learn ANY and ALL science concepts!
