Teaching theater means understanding the different genres of theater: procenium, thrust, in-the round. It means understanding the history of Theater from the early ancient theater companies, to Shakespeare to Modern day theater. It is also understanding scene design, lighting design, makeup design, as well as props and stage directions. It also means understanding the role of the director in the show and how to audition for specific roles, or members of the production crew. My tutoring would encompass this and more. I have been involved in academic or community theater for over 40 years and have been involved from directing, stage manager, and acting from both the community to semi-professional theater.
