I am a Science team leader at Cinco Ranch High School. I have three years' experience teaching high school. I have a large reserve of scientific knowledge and enjoy helping students develop study skills and discover their own discipline. My goal as a teacher and tutor is to draw out the maturity and dedication necessary for students to succeed independently. I ask a lot of my students. I think with them and motivate them from the inside out. I teach them to enjoy the successes of mastery, yet teach them how to repurpose that mastery. Prior to teaching I spent 10 years in the healthcare field. I have 3 children, aged 15, 3 and 2!

Algebra 1

Junior high and high school pre-ap and academic level algebra 1. Introduction to polynomials, factoring, functions and much more.

Algebra 2

I teach math from elementary to Algebra as a science teacher. My strength outside science is math. I scored a 740 on SAT math at age 16 and have been tutoring math off and on since college. As pure as any content area gets, I teach the simplicities of Algebra 2 focusing on clear, concise handwork and simple study skills. Much of the struggles students find in Algebra lie in a lack of guided practice with repetition. I provide that. The rest is up to the student.

Anatomy

I worked in medical prosthetics and organ and tissue transplant for ten years before becoming a teacher, so my background is in anatomy and physiology. This is one of my strongest content areas. I have written anatomy and physiology exams for science competitions focusing on various organ systems. I taught A&P for health professionals at a vocational school while working in the healthcare field.
