I believe that the purpose of education is to make students feel that they are capable of learning and can be successful. Before you can make students feel that they are capable, you must genuinely care for all children. The most important prerequisite for learning to occur is having a safe and nurturing environment. We are in a current trend of moving away from teacher-centered classrooms where authoritative measures are ineffective when measuring student success. This idea further reiterates the necessity for caring for the whole child. Emotional needs are just as important as physical, social, and other factors.
