I am an MS Development Communication graduate with a major in Educational Communication and minor in Environmental Science. I have completed PhD units in an Environmental Science program and have attended a non-degree program in Community Education. My Bachelor's degree is in Development Journalism. I served as managing editor cum writer for seven years as well as an editor in some writeshops. I had been invited as speaker and lecturer, discussing topics such as Communication process, communication material development, social marketing and community communication.
During my college years, I volunteered as a tutor where I helped college students in English and Math (specifically Basic Algebra). I love numbers especially problem solving and logic. I also love editing, proofreading, copy editing and layouting.
I believe that learning should be fun and enriching. My strategy in tutoring is finding out the learning curve and learning style of my students in order to maximize the learning process. I build on the student's potentials and strengths to complement his/her weakness. I teach as well as motivate students to find enjoyment in learning. My method is simple and non-intimidating. It is an "out-of-the-box" kind of approach that makes use of any available resources that would enhance learning.
I only do a minimum of 2-hr tutorial per session as I believe less than 2 hours of session is restrictive and stressful for student to grasp and absorb the topic being discussed. I have a 24-hour notice of cancellation, otherwise the appointment is considered as a "paid-schedule".
