Having a passion for Art as long I can remember, I pursued an education in art and graduated with my B.A. in Fine Arts from Dallas Baptist University. I now have not only made art a passion, but a career, showing works in galleries and accepting commissioned art work. Being Classically trained, I specialize in drawing of many mediums and painting in oil and acrylic. Color theory and light is a never ending research project for me, as I strive to learn more about the arts.
My methods are to start where the student is currently. To begin with line, shape and then form. Painting is usually taught after drawing, to ensure a better result.
It is my hope that I can share my zeal for the arts with others. That they may find joy when doing a new work of art and take pride in the finished product. Tutoring is a way of giving my knowledge and skill to others, that they can learn and grow and find out a little about themselves along the way.
Member of: Alpha Chi Honors Society, Texas Artist Coalition, Creative Arts Center, Kimbell Art Museum, Plano Arts Association and Irving Arts Center.
Being Classically trained in the Arts, I studied artists such as Monet, Van Gogh, Degas, Renoir, and Michelangelo, amongst many others. I graduated with a Bachelors degree in Fine Arts from Dallas Baptist University in Dallas, TX. My educational coursework directly relating to the art of drawing include the following: Drawing 1,2,3 & 4 and Design 1 & 2.
My artwork, including paintings and drawings, are shown in galleries across the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex and other cities in Texas. My artwork has recently been displayed at the Fort Worth Botanic Garden, the Irving Arts Center, Plano Arts Association, Fort Worth Community Arts Center, Heritage Farmstead Museum and the Verizon Gallery in Irving, TX. I also produce commissioned art works for private buyers, and have sold multiple commissioned works over the last few months.
The primary media I use for drawing works include Conté crayon, charcoal, pastel, graphite, colored pencil, and Crow Quill pen and ink. My style is versatile, having completed and sold works in the following styles: realism, illustrative, abstract, and non-representational. Special drawing techniques that I am skilled at using include line, hatching, cross-hatching, smudging, stippling, rubbing, scumbling, blending, lifting, pointillism, among others.
My approach to the art of drawing is rooted in the understanding that drawing is the basis for all other art forms. By learning line, shape, value, texture, color and space, one can achieve simple to complex drawings with practice. If a student can understand drawing, then painting, sculpting, graphic design, etc. can all be achieved at a greater quality.

The primary media I use for painting works include oil, acrylic, and mixed media. I utilize various pallet knives and wet and dry brush. My style is versatile, having completed and sold works in the following styles: illustrative, landscape, still life, abstract, and non-representational contemporary art. Special painting techniques that I am skilled at using include: glazing, poured paint, layering, blending, texture techniques, etc.
My approach to the art of painting is to embrace a person’s self-expressionism while maintaining a balance of all the elements of art. Creativity should not be stifled by art “rules,” but there are recommended guidelines to be followed for a more productive, pleasing and marketable art work if so desired. By learning painting, the concepts of composition, design, space, light, value, and color theory are achieved.
There are many facets of painting. Though it may take years to develop, it can be a great building block to one’s future. It is my hope that students can develop over time their skill and hone in on a personal style of their own.
