I am an experienced science teacher and tutor. My experience was gained in both private and public schools. I taught physical science, chemistry and physics in the Coppell School district for 21 years. My chemistry experience is in regular and pre-AP chemistry. I have taught IB physics (both standard and higher level). I have experience in Teaching APB and IB physics. I have no experience with calculus-based physics.
I have a great deal of experience with students whose first language is not English. I ran a 12 grade school in Udorn, Thailand, and taught in a French school in the United States where over half of my students were not native English speakers.
I completed intensive training and did intensive tutoring in reading and math for grades 1-8.

There is nothing that beats one-on-one when working with people of any age with ADD. The inability to maintain focus in the classroom without getting distracted is a huge difficulty for most. I have worked with ADD students sucessfully for many years. Currently, I have three hours of college credit for The Exceptional Child in the Classroom, which included much work on dyslexia, ADD, and all other common learning difficulties. I also have many years of in-service seminars and presentations on the topic of ADD/ADHD.
As a teacher in public schools for many years, I have had teenagers with Aspergers in my classroom and was required to take in-service classes to be able to help the students. Although there is a great deal of disagreement among the experts about the difference (or even if there is a difference) in high functioning autism and Aspergers, in those with whom I have worked who had been diagnosed elsewhere, I found both differences and similarities. I can work with both types of students with success.
I have a 13 year old grandson with autism. When he was first diagnosed ten years ago, I began taking classes, attending seminars, consulting experts in the field, etc. to become as proficient as possible in helping him with his special needs. He is very bright, but needs help with the aspects of autism that get in the way of learning. I am now proficient in helping high functioning autistic kids.

I also worked several summers with the Y.O.U. program for 14 and 15 year olds at the University of North Texas. These students had been named as potential drop outs. Helping them learn how to study was a big part of this, particularly the summer I was Dean of Women for the program. I have Texas certification to counsel students in grdes 6-12.
