I'm a semi-retired Chemical Engineer. I have traveled extensively having visited more than 30 countries during my career so I feel comfortable with people of all different types of cultures. I'm extroverted and love interacting with people (unlike most engineers). During my career, I taught classes and absolutely love teaching! At this point in time, I'd like to tutor students at any level in math, chemistry, and physics.
I graduated from the University of Illinois in 1982 with a degree in Chemical Engineering. I have been practicing in the field ever since that time. My expertise is in using advanced computer technology to automate various aspects of the manufacturing process. In fact, I have a US patent for multivariable control.
As part of my degree plan to obtain my Chemical Engineering degree 32 years ago, I had to take many different types of chemistry classes - introductory, physical, organic, analytical. Since then, I have been a practicing chemical engineer. I have worked in over 65 plants in almost 30 countries around the world.
I was the Product Marketing Manager at a tech company, supporting their MES product line for the last 2.5 years. I was responsible for writing articles, creating and maintaining the website, creating brochures, managing and speaking at conferences, creating video commercials, directing marketing campaigns, maintaining competitive material, etc. I was able to experience how marketing is actually used in the real world.
I'm a 30+ year practicing chemical engineer. I have used math heavily throughout my career and know how to apply these algebraic principles to practical, real-world problems.
As part of obtaining my chemical engineering degree 32 years ago, I had to take many different types of math classes - including different types of calculus. The basic calculus principles are heavily used within the chemical engineering curriculum. I have the practical experience of how this material is used in the real world.
I have been a part of Toastmasters on two different occasions during my career. My total time spent in Toastmasters has been over 2.5 years.
