I am a chemical engineering student at the University of Houston minoring in chemistry. I have tutored for the mathematics department at the University of Houston -- at CASA (Center for Academic Support and Assessment): I have also worked for Varsity Tutors. I have experience tutoring algebra, pre-calculus, college algebra, geometry, business calculus, calculus I-III, chemistry, organic chemistry, computing for engineers (MATLAB, Excel) -- middle school to college level. My favorite subject to tutor is math because it is the one subject that can be used as a tool to understand, communicate and define all other scientific languages (chemistry, physics, engineering, etc.).
I like relating the concepts that I tutor to real life applications and their importance to our everyday life. My experience has been that it really helps students become more proficient in what they are learning. I am quite interested in volunteering for my community, such as teaching English or computer skills to people who really need them. I am also interested in history, sociology, and philosophy. I was a district debate champion in the high school Lincoln-Douglas Debate (philosophy debate). One of my favorite movies is 4 Months 3 Weeks 2 Days.
