Hi everyone,

I was born in Cuba, but I have lived in Germany for many years. I did my doctoral studies (PhD) at the University in Hamburg. Although I got my PhD in Religion Studies, I have been teaching German, Spanish and Greek (koine) both in Germany and here in the United States. In Germany, I used to teach Spanish at the college in Eutin, and German as a second language. Since September, I have been teaching Greek to undergraduate students from the Baptist University in San Antonio. I also used to teach History of Christian Thought in the past, but in the last years I have focused on language teaching.

I have written and published books and articles both in German and Spanish about politic and religion.

My wife, my little baby girl and I moved to Houston from Germany this year. We live in Copperfield area.
To teach has been one of my passions and a kind of vocation in my life.
That is why, I would love to help you in improving your language skills either in German, Greek, or Spanish.
I can meet you where you feel more comfortable. I can also offer the materials (books, workbooks and cds) you might need in each language tutorial.

Corporate Training:

I started to learn German language many years ago for my doctoral studies in Germany. I attended the Studienkollege in Bochum and earned the German certificate with the highest qualification (DSH 3), which was a requirement to enroll at the university. I continued deepening my German knowledge during the first years of my doctoral studies as I attended several advanced German courses at the University. After finishing my PhD dissertation, which had to be written in German, I have been teaching German as a second language.

Since I did my doctoral studies in religion studies in Germany I had to submit Ancient Greek credits. That is why I had to attend a one and a half year Old Greek course in the Philology Faculty (Translation of Plato's Dialogue). After that I have been teaching Greek koine.

Since I am a native Spanish speaker I had to learn Spanish grammar in my whole education. During my time in Germany I was asked to teach Spanish to a group who was looking for a native speaking communicator who also could provide Spanish literature knowledge. This group motivated me to go deeper into the Spanish grammar and teachings methodology. After this experience I have prepared myself to teach Spanish as a second language.

Excellent tutor! Highly recommended! David is conscientious, patient, knowledgeable, prepared, and caring. Before we began our first session, David asked a lot of questions about my son's German level, needs, and textbook used so that he would be prepared to jump right in and make the most of our time together. He has provided most of the materials used based on my son's needs, including study sheets and websites for my son to revie ...
