Hello! I am currently working on my PhD in physics. I am passionate about science and mathematics, and seeing students succeed in both of those fields. In order to achieve this I adapt to a student's individual learning needs. I have tutored students through calculus 3 and differential equations in mathematics, and through a basic modern physics class, including quantum mechanics, in physics. I have 6+ years of tutoring experience with very positive feedback and success from my students.
- Teaching fellow at UH (Physics)
- Tutored for the UH department of physics 2 years
- Tutored at Mathnasium for 2 years
- Ran Chess Clubs for Cy-Fair ISD and taught chess to students
- Many years of private tutoring
I will do my best to make my schedule fit yours. I will usually be free most evenings for tutoring, and any time on the weekends. To me, this is the ideal job as it allows me to work in an area that I am passionate about and it allows me to see students succeed. I look forward to hearing from you.
I have self-taught myself C, and have created Windows, sockets, and Linux programs. Additionally, I took four years of computer science in high school, and two years in college. I am familiar with all of the basics in C, including program structure, variables, functions, if-else statements, boolean algebra, loops, pointers, unions and more. I would be happy to answer any additional questions regarding my qualifications.
I have completed courses in Calculus I-III, vector analysis, and complex analysis. Calculus is integral in the study of physics, and I have used it in virtually all of my undergraduate and graduate courses.
I completed a course in linear algebra at Texas A&M. Additionally, I took a course titled multivariable mathematics at Texas A&M, which dealt substantially with linear algebra, and I have used it in virtually all of my physics courses at the undergraduate and graduate level. I am familiar with systems of linear equations, how to solve systems of linear equations using Gauss-Jordan elimination and other matrix techniques, matrix algebra, determinants, vector spaces and the concepts associated with them, and eigenvalue problems, among other topics. I can answer any additional questions regarding my background with Linear Algebra.
I was asked to provide more information on my qualifications in linear algebra. My foundation for linear algebra comes from Math 304 and Math 311 and Texas A&M. Furthermore, I have regularly applied linear algebra to solve problems in many physics and lab classes at the University of Houston
Furthermore, both as a graduate student and as a senior I worked in the tutoring center through the department of physics which allowed students in physics classes to come ask questions regarding their classes. Often the questions of sophomore, junior and senior level undergraduates would involve some element of linear algebra, such as solving an eigenvalue equation in quantum mechanics, or using a change of basis in mechanics or electrodynamics, so I have some experience tutoring using the tools of linear algebra as well. In those situations I was successful in helping out the students, and I am confident in my knowledge and ability to teach linear algebra.
I have a BS in physics from the University of Houston, and am currently working on my PhD in physics.
I made a 760 on the math section of the SAT when I took the test in 2005. I have retained the knowledge required to be successful on the math portion of the SAT, as the algebra and geometry tested is directly applicable in much of my graduate coursework. I have also tutored students preparing for the SAT, all of whom have improved their scores in the math section compared to preliminary tests.

Impressive — Amol helped raise my daughter's high school AP Calculus BC grade from mediocre to an A. He assisted her with IB Physics as well and gave her the confidence she needed. I recommend Amol V. He was patient and worked with us with respect to timeframes and locations. Thanks to Amol, my daughter will be prepped for College Math and Physics. ...
