I am a retired professor with 40+ years of teaching/mentoring medical students, graduate students and post-doctoral fellows. I have also lectured occasionally to high school science students at the invitation of the teachers where my children attended school. In addition to teaching, I was involved in grant writing, research and publishing in national and international scientific journals.

I am proficient in tutoring biology, physiology, endocrinology and biochemistry to high school, college, pre-medical, pre-dental and nursing students. I am also very experienced in editing essays, term papers, dissertation (MS/Ph.D) and publications.

ACT Science

In addition to teaching in Medical School I also taught graduate and post-doctoral students enrolled in the UT Graduate School of Bio-medical Sciences-Houston. I retired in 2006 as a tenured professor and I currently participate as a substitute teacher at St. John's Upper School.

ADD/ADHD

My main experience involved my oldest daughter who was diagnosed with ADHD. As parents, my wife and I consulted psychiatrists and behavioral psychologists and introduced my daughter to taking Ritalin regularly during school hours under the supervision of the school nurse. It was a life long involvement from very early childhood until adulthood.
My second experience was mentoring two male medical students diagnosed with ADHD throughout their four year medical education. During our meetings we would discuss their progress, management of their disorder and current scientific literature on the subject.

Arabic

I speak and write Arabic fluently. I studied Arabic from Kindergarten until I graduated from High School in Jerusalem (Jordan) Where I attended St. George's School (Private Anglican School). I passed the Oxford Matriculation Exam in all my subjects including Arabic language.

Biology

I have taught college students, doctoral students (MD and PhD) various Biology subjects such as: General Biology; Physiology; endocrinology; Seminars and Laboratory Research Techniques; Cell Biology; Genetics; Steroid Biochemistry; Zoology and many more related areas. I trained post-doctoral MD's and PhD's as well as mentored PhD candidates enrolled at UT Graduate School of Bio-medical Sciences at Houston.
In addition to my teaching skills, I have published 50 articles in peer reviewed Science National and International Journals, presented 30+ research presentations at Scientific meetings, and written several published book chapters.

MCAT

I retired from University of Texas Medical School in Houston after serving as a faculty member for almost 40 years. In addition to teaching, one of my duties involved interviewing prospective medical students for admission. I mentored prospective students in methods and techniques that will help them improve their MCAT performance and score high enough for admission. Also, I have a very broad background in various science disciplines that is essential in teaching a multidisciplinary approach to preparing for the exams.

Reading

During my teaching at UT Medical School-Houston, I mentored two medical students who were diagnosed with ADHD, for their four years in medical school until graduation. I also raised three daughters, the oldest of whom was diagnosed with ADHD from early childhood until adulthood. The two medical students performed brilliantly academically and maintained their treatment regimen religiously. My oldest daughter is successfully employed as a veterinary anesthesiologist and a mother of two wonderful grandsons, a rewarding achievement. I believe I am well suited to teach your child.

If I can provide additional information to help you, please write to me. I am available seven days a week so let me know what times might work for you and your child.
