I have been teaching elementary and high school full time since 2009 in various schools in Houston. I have also tutored students one on one for more than five years and spent two summers abroad teaching abroad. I am certified in English Language Arts and Reading as well as ESL and have an English degree from the University of Houston.

I am certified in English and ESL in the state of Texas. I have taught reading, writing, grammar and comprehension full time to different grade levels for a few years.

Arabic

I studied Arabic 1501 and 1502 in college as well as abroad in Arabic speaking country for many months completing three different classes with focus on reading, writing and grammar. I am able to read, speak and write intermediate Arabic.

Elementary (K-6th)

I have taught elementary grades including second and third full time in all core subjects - English (reading, writing, vocabulary, grammar), Science, Social Studies and Math. Also I have tutored other grade levels and taught summer camps with elementary students.

Phonics

I have taught phonics and elementary grammar to second and third grade.

Study Skills

I have taught students how to be organized, structure time and study in advisory in high school and also implemented it into curriculum with strategies and such in elementary school.

Special Needs

I have worked with special needs in Reading intervention including ADHD/ADD, dyslexia, Learning Disabilities and various IEP plans with behavior and academic interventions throughout my three years of full time teaching.

Photography

I have been doing documentary, portrait and special event photography for the past six years. Currently I contract with George Street photo.

Public Speaking

I have worked in youth workshops and have extensive public speaking experience with campaigning and also being part of Speech/Debate in my own school days where I also won awards. I have also coached students on Public speaking in teaching.

Career Development

I have worked with students in high schools towards goals both career and college depending on their interests and abilities. Also connect many students (high school and college) with opportunities related to their interest and how to go about searching for those opportunities and build towards their goals.

ADD/ADHD

I have worked in schools with students that are diagnosed with ADHD/ADD in both elementary and high school settings as well as tutored students one on one who had a hard time with focusing.

Dyslexia

I have worked with a dyslexic student in high school and also elementary school, both with pull out and inclusion.

TAKS

I have taught and tutored students in elementary and high school with pullouts and in class instruction for Reading and Writing TAKS instruction, also elementary math.
