I have been playing chess since I was about five or six years old. I have been part of different chess clubs over the years and have even been in a college chess tournament, where I scored 3rd place. I will teach the beginning level chess player the basics of the game: how the pieces move and interact, basic strategies, and even a little history of the game.
I have been a Mac user since 2009. Being a former PC user, I can teach most anyone how to switch operating systems. I own a MacBook Pro with OS X Mountain Lion (the latest version) installed. I can help with anything from basic navigation around the OS to personal customization. I am able to teach all the functions of applications and settings like iCloud, iTunes, iLife (iPhoto, iMovie, GarageBand), Mail, Finder, Exposé, Mission Control, Spaces, Dashboard, etc.
I am fascinated by photography as well as videography. As filmmakers have recently started migrating into the DSLR world, I have discovered my interest in photography as well. I am a Canon EOS 60D user, but I've had experience working with several other DSLRs, including the Canon 5D Mark II, Canon T2i, Canon T3i, Nikon D5000, Nikon D5100, and Nikon D7000. I understand the controls and settings of how these cameras work, allowing me to have full manual control of the pictures and videos I take. Some of the key concepts I will be teaching are shooting modes, exposure, histogram, light meter, aperture, shutterspeed, ISO, white balance, metering modes, focus, light meter, drive, bracketing, flash, and more.
I have been an avid videographer since 2005. My experience in media production includes directing, cinematography, lighting, audio for video, editing, animation and visual effects. As a freelancer, I have shot and edited many projects: weddings, theatre and live stage performances, music videos, short films, instructional videos, slideshows and documentaries. I have worked with many types of cameras, ranging from consumer video cameras and DSLRs to DVCPRO television and HDV cameras. I am proficient in the following software and programs: Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Premiere Pro, Adobe After Effects, Apple Final Cut Express, Adobe Bridge, and Mac & Windows operating systems.
While attending Lone Star College, I took several Visual Communication electives, including Drawing, Photoshop, Multimedia, Lighting for Film/Video, Digital Photography, TV Studio Production and TV Field Production. I also was involved in the LSC-CyFair Video Production Club, and was Vice President of this club during the Fall of 2011 and the Spring of 2012.
