Hi! I grew up in Mississippi and attended high school there. Ever since I graduated from high school I wanted to come to Texas. When I was 19, I packed up and did. I worked in Texas for a while so that I could get my instate residency and then attended college at Texas Tech University. At Texas Tech, I majored in Chemistry with a minor in computer science. I took quite a few math courses as well as some engineering courses. After TTU, I moved back to Houston and started working in various industries as a chemist and enjoyed it.

I briefly taught at the University of Houston as a TA and this is how I discovered I really enjoy teaching. While at UH, I taught chemistry lab, but I also worked with students on their math and physics courses.

My love for teaching now has brought me here to WyzAnt where I am hoping to find students for whom I can explain in easier terms what they are having problems in. My schedule is open. I work around your time. I can tutor from early mornings to late at night (about 10 pm). I can meet you where you feel comfortable whether it be at your home, a coffee shop, a bookstore, or even a library. I am a native English speaker and am extremely patient and will take my time to make sure you understand the concepts you are having problems with. If you are looking for a tutor to teach your kids, yourself, or even another family member, please write me.

I tutor on your time. Tutoring is a full time thing for me. This is what I do and the only thing I do. I would love to have you as a student on YOUR time not MINE. You tell me when it is convenient for you. I tutor mornings, afternoons, evenings, nights and weekends as well. MY SCHEDULE FILLS UP FAST!! PLEASE EMAIL ME SO I CAN GET YOU IN FOR FINALS. I WORK ALL 7 DAYS and UP TO 11PM AT NIGHT!

Below I have added a bit of my experience:

I have tutored a student at Cinco Ranch High School in Katy TX. He was not doing very well (He had a D average) in AP Calculus AB. His mother emailed and asked me for help. I helped him get up to a B and a 4 out of 5 on the AP Calculus exam. I taught him basic test taking skills. He and his mother were very happy with the results.

I have taught students at Cy Fair ISD as well as Katy ISD. I have had many students from Taylor, Seven Lakes, and Cinco Ranch.

I have students that I tutor from Kincaid High School and Junior High, a very nice private school in Houston.

I currently have students who attend Second Baptist School. I am tutoring algebra and they are doing well in the subject.

Along with high school students I have tutored many college level students who attend HCC, LSC, UH and as well as the Texas Tech students who visit Houston in the summer and take summer classes.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Algebra 1

I have tutored Algebra I to many students all over Houston. I have helped many struggling students on the basics of algebra. A good algebra I foundation can make your next grade in Algebra II.

Algebra 2

I have tutored this subject from high school all through college and even reviewed it in the study of calculus with many of my students. Algebra II is the basis for the advanced maths such as pre-cal and calculus. A little help now can go a long way!

Calculus

Calculus is probably one of my most favorite subjects to tutor. I have helped many students in calculus I and calculus II. We begin with the study of limits and go into graphing, differentiation, and the many types of integration. Calculus I and II are used in many subjects including engineering, physics, and computation chemistry.

Chemistry

I have a degree in chemistry and have taught this subject to many students. I have reviewed basic chemistry as well as more advanced techniques.

Linux

I am familiar with UNIX and Linux and have installed it on my computer. I am familiar with basic commands in Linux as well as UNIX. Linux is a graphic-based operating system, much like Windows except more powerful. I can help walk you through Linux as well as edit files, do some C++ programming, and help you compile programs in Linux.

Microsoft Windows

I have worked for years with MS Windows including Windows 97, XP, 7, and 8. I can install the program and have had programming experience as well in various languages. I can show students the basics as well as advance features of Windows including installing hardware and software, removing applications, saving and deleting files.

Organic Chemistry

I studied organic chemistry in college while majoring in chemistry. It has been a few years since I have done organic, however I have had to use the basic tools they teach in organic such as spectroscopy in my every day work as a chemist. The junior organic chemistry course is typically based upon the octet rule. It goes to nomenclature as well as learning basics about hydrocarbons. I am comfortable with explaining the basics in organic chemistry.

Precalculus

Pre-Calculus is a math that mixes both algebra and trigonometry as well as some physics. I have tutored pre-cal to many students in Cy-Fair and Memorial. A strong pre-cal foundation can help you succeed in AP Calculus AB/BC. It is one of the more difficult subjects but can be taught in an easy way.

Hi everyone!! My name is Faraz and I started tutoring 7 months ago.  I have another business selling used laboratory equipment but business had gotten really slow.  Prior to this, I was working full time.  I was laid off and that was fine because I was doing well in my business selling used lab equipment.  Anyway with the down economy, I just didn't have the sales I used... read more

First multiply 4y times the whole equation y-3.  You get 4y2-12y+5 = 12(y-3).  Then take the 2nd side 12(y-3) and multiply everything in the parenthesis by 12 like you did with the left side.  You get 12y-36.  The equation comes to 4y2-12y+5=12y-36.  Now you...

I recently was lucky enough to have a student who slowly improved both his knowledge and confidence in his calculus class. His parents trusted me to teach him long term on a daily basis. I know this is not possible for all parents as tutoring is very expensive and on a daily basis the fees can become outrageous for 1 to 2 hours a day. The student had completely lost confidence in himself. He... read more
