Music Theory- Music History- General Music Tutor

Hello,

Having been a music theory student myself, I understand the struggles that can come from really not understanding a music concept. So much so, that I went to school and got a Bachelor's Degree in Music Theory. I promise that there is a way to understand this prickly problem. I went even further and got a graduate degree in music as well. I have spent my whole life teaching music in some form or another. Piano lessons, voice lessons, theory tutoring in college, guitar lessons and more, I have taught it all and know I can help you understand music theory.

For the past 12 years I've taught privately. Each week I see 45 students. I love to see them master a difficult problem. I love that moment when, what once was troubling becomes easy. I know I can do this for you as well. I look forward to hearing from you!

Music Theory

Hold bachelor's degree in music theory and an ABD master's degree in music theory.

Composition (Music)

I am an active composer. I have composed music for the past 20 years. My folio can be made available upon request.

Ear Training

I have taught Ear Training (sections 1-4) at both the University of Houston and Montgomery College. I have studied the Bruce Benward texts, and have studied/taught the Ottman texts. I am familiar with the concepts behind teaching Eat Training.

General Music

I hold Undergraduate (Music Theory) and Graduate (Choral Conducting/ABD-Music Theory) degrees in music. I am fully capable of teaching General Music, from History to Theory.

Music History

Having taught at the university and college level, I am qualified to teach all aspects of music history. Not only that, but how music history is woven into social and political history as well. I can give a well rounded aspect to music history.

Piano

I have taught private piano lessons for 35 years. I feel perfectly qualified in all aspects of teaching private piano.

Sight Singing

I have taught the Ottman method of Sight Singing and am perfectly able to understand and teach the Kodaly method of pitch relationships. Teaching Sight Singing will not be difficult to me.

Voice (Music)

I am an active vocalist in the Houston area. I have sung and taught singing for 12 years. I am perfectly able to help coach any level of singer that comes to me.

Songwriting

Being an active composer I am qualified to teach song writing. I have helped several of my students bring songs of theirs into a fully composed piece of music that can be read by other musicians.
