My name is Ashlei and I am just the tutor you are looking for!

I am a Middle School Reading Interventionist in Humble ISD seeking to enhance students achievement. I have a BA in English Literature and M.Ed. in Curriculum & Instruction from the University of Houston. I am certified to teach English Language Arts & Reading and English as a Second Language for grades 4-8. I have experience teaching 2nd, 3rd, 6th, 7th, and 8th grade English Language Arts. I've also tutored other students in preparation for various standardized tests such as STAAR, TAKS, and ACT.

I believe in challenging students academically and really breaking things down so they are able to gain a better understanding of the material being covered.

Elementary (K-6th)

I am currently working as a reading interventionist for 6th graders and I previously taught English Language Arts and Reading to 2nd and 3rd graders. I also have experience tutoring students in these grade levels.

Phonics

I previously taught 2nd and 3rd grade English Language Arts and reading. It required me to go back and heavily review phonics. I also took many courses while attaining my Master's in Education that required me to learn ways to teach phonics.

Study Skills

I am a reading interventionist and part of my job is to prepare students for standardized tests such as STAAR. I have been preparing students to complete these exams since TAKS existed. I also practice with the students and offer strategies that will help them.

Bible Studies

I have recently completed the school of ministry at my church home. During college, I completed a course that closely evaluated the old testament. I am very active in church serving as a youth facilitator.
