I'm a leading web designer and system admin for a local newspaper group as well as a college professor teaching computer science subjects such as web design, programming, networking and routing. I'm also a freelance web designer and computer consultant. I provide cost-effective and compelling Web designs, intelligent database work and efficient programming skills to bind everything together. These roles require a variety of skills. Therefore I have in-depth knowledge in Windows, Linux, and Apple's OSX, both PC and Mainframe computing systems and a wide variety of frameworks, languages and programing styles. I code in HTML, CSS, Javascript, SQL, Python and PHP on a daily basis as my job (and the newspaper readers) depend on it. I've developed complete web sites for large and small companies, both database driven and static and everything in between.
As a teacher and consultant I share my knowledge with others; therefore, it is crucial I have a good education. My educational background is mixed, with two Master's degrees in computer science and in music. My teaching and tutoring experience is long - I started teaching piano at 13, and tutoring computer science at 18. While as a music major studying MIDI on an old Amiga, my interest in computer music and computers in general grew. The requirement to typeset completed sheet music on laser printers led me to desktop publishing and finally web design.
I have a variety of vendor specific networking and web design certifications in Windows, Linux, SQL, and Cisco. I also have vender neutral certifications such as A+, Net+ and several security based certifications. I have received many awards regarding instruction, web design, coding and networking. I'm well known in the area and since I've been teaching computers since 1995 I can deliver many testimonials from current and former students.
My tutoring and teaching style is informal and fun, but rigorous. My students' jobs and future well being depend on me delivering, and I don't let my students down. I usually focus on clarity and efficiency of code coupled with clean, minimal designs of the Danish school. Today my students are mostly young adults, but I have had students as young as 5 years old. Usually I can be found at the newspaper or at school, or sometimes at various businesses in the area helping them to succeed.
