As a recent graduate of Baylor University I understand more than ever the importance of our youth and even more importantly with the proper education the possibilities are endless. It is especially important for today's generation to encompass an understanding for different cultures and embody a thirst for adventure and knowledge in a day and age where cultural diversity runs the ever growing interdependent world.
I have a degree in International Studies with a concentration in Latin American Studies and have taken countless sociology, psychology, history, literature, poetry, and writing classes conducted in Spanish. I was enrolled in an anthropological ethnographic field school in Momostenango, Guatemala studying the effects of globalization on the indigenous population of Guatemala and how the Mayan people were adapting and preserving their culture and customs. Embarking on this journey I was fortunate enough to speak Spanish fluently to make my stay and research a bit easier on myself.
I have traveled to Dominican Republic for leisure and found the culture to be intoxicating. The music and food captured my heart and took a hold of my artistic nature. There I learned cultural dances like bachata and merengue típico and this led the way to my dancing salsa for Baylor University's Latin Dance Society. First, student of the art then performer in cities like Waco, Dallas, San Antonio and Houston and ultimately holding the position as the Performance Chair and Instructor. I have conducted private lessons as well during the summer time in Houston upon request and evaluation.
I am excited to be at your service and hopefully leave you more zealous about International culture and a better understanding of the Spanish language!!
