Hi, my name is Charisse. I graduated from Texas A&M University in May, 1998 with a Bachelors of Business Administration with an emphasis in Business Management. (Gig 'em Aggies!) My favorite subject is math. I first tutored friends when I was in high school who were struggling with math classes and found it to be very rewarding to help others struggling with a subject that I so clearly understood. I then began holding tutoring group sessions for my business calculus classmates in college who were struggling with understanding basic and advanced concepts. Watching them work through problematic areas and improve homework and test grades and eventually helping to raise their GPA gave me a great sense of accomplishment. I love helping others with spelling as well. Spelling and math seem to be the subjects that adults and students struggle with the most. They feel they will never get it or ever be a good speller, which I believe is far from the truth. I won the spelling bee in 3rd grade for my school and then went to regionals where I was a finalist. Since, I've always enjoyed spelling and writing and helped many others improve upon their spelling, grammar and writing skills. I help others to understand certain "letter rules" and with memory techniques, I am able to help others achieve improved results and make math and spelling much less "scary" with my hands on and easy-to-learn approach.
I am married to a wonderful husband and father, and I am a step-mom to his two amazing children, Joe, who is a 7th grader at West Memorial Junior High in Katy, and Grace, who is a 3rd grader at West Memorial Elementary. They are the joys of my life, along with my three dogs, Cosmo, Marley and Brandy. I have a passion for animals and work with rescues to help find them forever homes, which they are so deserving of. I have been employed in various lines of work, including mostly accounting, office management and human resources. I have owned two businesses: a restaurant and bakery as well as an invitation company. My passion is teaching, and I will be taking classes the spring semester of 2013 to obtain my teaching certificate to teach high school math, which has been a life long dream of mine. I hope you have learned a little about me, and if it seems we are a good fit for each other, I look forward to hearing from you and helping you to achieve your goals of better understanding your subjects so you feel comfortable and confident in your studies. Best of luck to you on your educational journey!
Respectfully,
Charisse
