Good writing tells the basics: who, what, when, where, how and why, each with correct spelling, grammar and punctuation. A good writer can get you to the beach but a great writer will make you shake the sand off your shoes, wish you'd brought sunscreen and suddenly develop an innate love of driftwood you never knew you had. I can help you become a good writer. Good enough to write a solid, informative and slightly out of the box college admission essay, term paper or cover letter for a job application. A great one? That's pretty much up to you but I can help edit you to near greatness. You write it, I edit it, and together we can create something memorable and polished -- in your voice. Something to help make your case before showing your face.
And, we can work online with Skype when possible. I've found most students are so overwhelmed with trying to amass 30,000 hours of community service in one semester that it's really hard to make appointments in a timely manner. Working online, we can get together after dinner or on a slow Sunday. It's your call.
A quick bit of background: I hold a BA in English from Southern Methodist University. Over the years, working as a copywriter for advertising agencies and as a freelance writer for every thing from an HISD board report to a brochure for a fly-killer, I have been paid to write. I am a writer but I also offer editing skills, which in your case will be probably more of what you need. Case in point: I recently read a sentence written by a pretty bright business exec. In full corpspeak mode, he said "I expect you to be in maximum throughput form..." In real world words, he meant "I expect you to get the job done quickly.' That's what I do -- I help you learn to speak to others in language they understand.
