I have a Bachelor of Science degree in Interdisciplinary Studies with a concentration in English. I received my bachelor degree from University of Houston Downtown in December of 2009. I have been a Teacher Assistant in the Houston Independent School District for 10 years. I was a Teacher Assistant in the Title I. Department at Dowling Middle School. At Dowling Middle School, I assisted students with their class assignments, homework, test preparation, projects, and presentations in the TASKS Math and TASKS Reading classes. TAKS Math and TAKS Reading classes were for the students who failed the Math and/or Reading section of the TAKS test. I worked in small groups (6 students or less) in the TAKS Math and TAKS Reading classes.
Now, I am a Teacher Assistant in LifeSkills at Cullen Middle School. Their are 15 students in my LifeSkills classroom. My class consists of students with Autism, learning disabilities,and students who are non verbal. My class also consists of students who have Down Syndrome. I assist the students with phonetic skills, Math, Reading, Science, Social Studies, Spelling, handwriting, and writing. I also assist the students on the computer with the LandMark Reading Program, Brain Pop, and Brain Pop Jr. I assist a group of five students with handwriting, writing, Math, Science, Social Studies,and Science. I work one on one to with the students who are on the Pre Kindergartner, and Kindergartner level to assist them with Phonetics, and Reading.
