As someone with both a Masters and a Doctorate in Education, I believe that education is the catalyst for limitless opportunities. Tutoring students in test taking strategies, specifically in TAKS, STARR, ASVAB, and SAT/ACT subjects, provides a great sense of satisfaction. This is because many students miss opportunities simply because of test results. Most students have the academic capabilities, but simply don't have a sound testing strategy.

In addition, helping students in English comprehension, spelling, vocabulary, and writing establishes the foundation needed for every core subject. While performing as a 4th and 5th grade teacher, students enjoyed a tough, thorough, rigorous academic environment that was results oriented.

My teaching method seeks to identify and maximize on the students' strengths.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

ASVAB

My academic skills and knowledge of testing strategies is what I offer for this assessment. I have spent more than 25 years working with the US Military in one aspect or another. I have trained educators on understanding the ASVAB test. I was in public education for five years prior to working for the federal government. The key to doing well on the ASVAB is applying sound test taking strategies coupled with your normal academic skills. Time management is the area most test takers run into difficulties.

Elementary (K-6th)

My elementary education experience includes five years teaching experience at the 4th and 5th grade levels. Administrative certification as K-8 principal. Extensive experience in study skills. Currently I am the Director of Education for the U.S. Army that includes preparing students for academic challenges primarily in high school and college. however, I work with elementary students in understanding the importance of core subjects. This includes demonstrating all levels of language arts, reading, math, and science in every day real world applications.

Study Skills

As the Director of Education for the U.S. Army in Texas, I have the responsibility of demonstrating study materials used by potential applicants. These study skills include using context clues, the process of elimination, reading materials with the purpose of answering corresponding questions. My experience as a professor of educational leadership, classroom teacher, administrator, and my advanced degrees in education provides ample experience in preparing students for all levels of testing materials.

TAKS

As the Director Education for the U.S. Army in Texas, responsible for training educators to use numerous test taking tutorials including those used with the SAT, ACT, TAKS, STARR and other state mandated examinations. These tutorials provide students with academic and study skills in language arts, math, science.
