I am a former teacher who has taken a temporary timeout to pursue a graduate degree. My passion is in helping children discover they really can achieve anything the set their minds too. Everything we have ever successfully done, we were engaged in the learning process, fully focused, committed and had courage to overcome any obstacle we faced. With my students, I will help them recognize how their strengths can help them overcome their weaknesses, as well as discover ways in which they can use their talent to achieve excellence.
I bring 8 years of teaching experience 4th - 8th grade. I have a strong background in balanced literacy, phonemic awareness, and reading comprehension strategies. I can identify the break down in mathematical processing, and use concrete examples/manipulatives, to reconstruct meaning. I understand the process of writing development and various writing styles. I believe science is best learned through experiencing the concepts. Science is best learned hands-on, experiencing, exploring, explaining concepts that are introduced.
When we first meet, we will discuss needs, and I will conduct the necessary assessments to help me better understand the students unique needs and strengths. We work hard in the classroom everyday, and additional tutoring needs to be engaging and meaningful. Learning in an engaging way tailored to your child's interest will be my approach to ensure enjoyment and success!
