Hello! My name is Robert, and I love to tutor Spanish. I believe in the importance of learning a second language, and Spanish is an increasingly important language in the world and very good to know when you live in Texas. My style of tutoring is to first assess the student's prior knowledge of Spanish, their rate at which they learn it, and go from there. I believe in a strong core of building literacy skills as reading in a foreign language is excellent for increasing vocabulary. I like to practice speaking Spanish with the students that I tutor as much as possible, but explain grammar concepts in English as they can be a bit confusing to understand.
I have been tutoring for four years and am especially adept at tutoring Spanish due to my love of the subject. I have tutored in math, American history, and science but I prefer Spanish. I had my first tutoring job when I was fourteen where I was on call for two hours a night as a general subjects tutor. At that point I was teaching multiple subjects but year by year have focused my tutoring to be almost exclusively Spanish. I say "almost" because I also study Russian and am a tutor for that language also.
I am currently in an AP (advanced placement)Spanish class in high school and will be majoring in Spanish at the University of Rochester in the fall. I lived with a Spanish family in northern Spain for 2 months during my junior year of high school and studied there in the city of Santiago de Compostela. At the moment, I am at a college prep school in Vermont, but I will be coming back to Texas on June 1st where I hope to transfer what I learned in Spain and in my Spanish courses into constructive Spanish tutoring lessons.
I have been accepted into the National Honor Society, and have been consistently on the honor roll of my school. I also have maintained a GPA above 3.7 for my entire high school career.
