Algebra 1
The main goal of tutoring Algebra 1 is to develop fluency in working with tables and graphs, solving linear equations and inequalities. Students will also extend their knowledge of the number system to include irrational numbers, generate equivalent expressions and use formulas. Students will also start to simplify polynomials and begin studying quadratic relationships. My students will be instructed to analyze these situations verbally, numerically, graphically, and symbolically. I also instruct my students to apply these mathematical skills to real life experiences.
Algebra 2
Algebra 2 is designed to build on algebraic and geometric concepts. It develops advanced algebra skills such as systems of equations, advanced polynomials, imaginary and complex numbers, quadratics, and concepts and includes the study of trigonometric functions. It also introduces matrices and their properties. The content of this course are important for students’ success on both the ACT and college mathematics entrance exams.

GED
The math portion of the GED test consists of four parts: Measurements and Geometry, algebra, data analysis/statistics, number operations and number sense. I will prepare the student to perform these math functions, solve algebra equations, arrange data, and interpret graphs, among many other skills necessary to pass this important exam.
Geometry
Geometry introduces the study of points, segments, triangles, polygons, circles, solid figures, and their associated relationships as a mathematical system. Emphasis is placed on the description and use of inductive, deductive, and intuitive reasoning skills. Powers of abstract reasoning, spatial visualization and logical reasoning patterns are improved through this course. Points, segments, triangles, polygons, circles, and solid figures are the structures studied. The focus is on comparisons between these figures concerning surface areas, volumes, congruency, similarity, transformations, and coordinate Geometry.
GRE
WE will prepare for the GRE exam by covering the following topics.
CALCULUS
Differential and integral calculus of one and of several variables — includes calculus-based applications and connections with coordinate geometry, trigonometry, differential equations and other branches of mathematics.
ALGEBRA
Elementary algebra: basic algebraic techniques and manipulations acquired in high school and used throughout mathematics
Linear algebra: matrix algebra, systems of linear equations, vector spaces, linear transformations, characteristic polynomials and eigenvalues and eigenvectors
Abstract algebra and number theory: elementary topics from group theory, theory of rings and modules, field theory and number theory
ADDITIONAL TOPICS
Introductory real analysis: sequences and series of numbers and functions, continuity, differentiability and integrability, and elementary topology of R and Rn
Discrete mathematics: logic, set theory, combinatorics, graph theory and algorithms
Other topics: general topology, geometry, complex variables, probability and statistics, and numerical analysis
Prealgebra
Pre-algebra will include a thorough exploration of the fundamentals of arithmetic, including fractions, exponents, and decimals. The students will be introduced to beginning topics in number theory and algebra, including common divisors and multiples, primes and prime factorizations, basic equations and inequalities, and ratios.
