I have a degree in Music Education and a license to teach Early Childhood to 12th grade Music and also a license to teach Elementary - 8th grade Mathematics. I'm also firm believer in the adage, "a spoon full of sugar makes the medicine go down." Every student has a starting point. I find where it is, decide what methods would be most effective, create short and long term goals, and find the most entertaining way to go about achieving those goals. Consistent feedback, clear expectations, and gentle motivation are key in successful tutoring so I have a blog that the students can sign into with a password and there they can check what they should be working on throughout the week, and they can also view and listen to samples of their and my other students' exemplary work. My students strive for a chance to have their work displayed on the web page, even if or especially because my other students will see.
