I studied mathematics with minor subjects economics and computer science in Germany up to the Diploma degree, which is equivalent to a master's degree, before I started working on my dissertation in number theory.

I offer tutoring in various levels and subjects of math, including statistics and applied mathematics. Tutoring is possible up to grad school level and in German and English. I worked as a university lecturer for four years, teaching undergraduate and graduate courses. I also have vast experience in one-to-one tutoring, trying to not only train students for a better grade, but helping them to see the context and the bigger picture to boost their abilities and confidence for all new things to learn.

I can also work as a fitness coach in a variety of fields, have a German trainer certificate, and can offer lesson and/or training plans for running and fitness in general, e.g. core strengthening with kettlebells. I trained youth teams for several years in Handball, which is the sport I grew up with.

As I have a day time job, I am currently only teaching on weekends.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Actuarial Science

I have taken several German actuarial exams and had classes in probability theory and risk management and taught grad classes about financial optimization. I can help you prepare for any actuarial exam.

Chess

I am a good hobby player. My Elo level is appr. 2000. Teaching for beginners.

Fitness

I have the German mass sports certificate and was trainer of several youth teams. My interests right now are kettlebells, general fitness and running. Glad to help you out with training sessions or training plans.

Linear Algebra

I have taught university courses on Linear Algebra several times. I prepared exercises and test for these classes as well.

Visual Basic

Experience due to studies in my minor subject (computer science) at my university. Also programmed VBA for Excel scripts for a company on the side.

There are two kinds of intercepts, for x=0 and y=0.   For x=0, you obtain f(0)=0^2+0-20=-20.   For y=0, it is easiest to use vieta's formula. For the two solutions x1 and x2, we know x1+x2=-1 and x1*x2=-20. Thus, x1*(-1-x1)=-20, x1^2+x1=20, and we can see x1=4,...
