Hi! I have, as my graduate school advisor says, "a diverse and interesting background." Why he might describe me in this way is because I am former professional basketball player and current graduate student in the health sciences (total science enthusiast!). Because of my experience I am available not only as a tutor in the sciences, but also as a personal coach in basketball. So whether your child needs help in school or on the court (or both!) I can help! Here's a little bit about me in more detail.
I graduated from the beautiful University of California- Santa Barbara in 2010 with a degree in Biology from the prestigious College of Creative Studies. While at UC-Santa Barbara, I was captain of the Women's Basketball team, winning two conference championships and making two NCAA tournament appearances. Additionally, I served as a laboratory assistant at the UCSB Neuroscience Research Institute for three years, and became a published author with my lab in the Proceedings of National Academy of Sciences journal. Upon graduation, I received the University Award of Distinction.
During the summer of 2010, I signed a professional basketball contract to play in the Diekirch League for a team in Luxembourg City. Over the course of the 2010-11 season, I averaged 25 points and 12 rebounds per game. Also, I served as a coach for the U18 girls division of my club, who won the Luxembourgish Coupe.
Anticipating my shift to becoming a graduate student in the sciences, I began to coach kids in basketball as a way to stay connected to and facilitate my passion to help develop young basketball players' technical and life skills. Now an Epidemiology graduate student at UT-Houston Health Science Center, I am able to keep a great balance of basketball and scientific discovery and would love to share my gained knowledge to help your child!
