Guidance and Expertise in Math and Sciences

I am a graduate student pursuing a PhD in Biochemistry and Cell Biology. Looking back at my previous education, I am grateful for having educators, mentors and tutors to help guide me to where I am today. This reflection encourages me even more to want to help out students who are in need of a little assistance.

As an undergraduate, I taught an Intro to Biology course. Now, I mentor undergraduates and high school students. I personally understand the importance of subjective learning in today's society. I am willing to address the needs of those who may require new ways of comprehending and understanding difficult concepts. I am looking forward to contribute to our future's success.

Soccer

I like to consider myself as an avid student of football (soccer). I competitively played at the highest level during my high school years at the club and high school level. I also went to play on scholarship during my freshman year of college before I had to step away from the game due to injury. Genetics

I am a PhD student in the Biochemistry and Cell Biology department at Rice University. I am a teaching assistant for the Cell Biology course, and I have also taken Genetics courses as an undergraduate.

I am currently making different mutated strains in Candida albicans, a commensal yeast. The lab techniques I perform require a good understanding of genetics and the tools available to perform genetic research.

Microbiology

As a second year graduate student in a Biochemistry and Cell Biology program, my research is more focused on the "micro" aspect of cell biology. My research is focused on understanding the molecular mechanisms behind oxidative stress response by Candida albicans, a commensal yeast.
