I am a professional working in research. I currently help patients and caregivers who have been affected by a traumatic brain injury. I have a Master's Degree in Liberal Arts with a Psychology concentration from the University of St. Thomas. I also hold a BS degree in Neuroscience with a Chemistry Minor from Baylor University. I absolutely love learning and I love helping others learn. I currently teach part-time at a junior college to fulfill my passion of helping others through their educational journey. I love to teach in a skills based manner where I like to acknowledge the great skills that the student currently possesses while helping to build upon their weaknesses. I believe that everyone is an intelligent individual and it is my goal to help them express that through their academics. I am willing to travel in the city I currently live in and I have a flexible schedule which allows me to be more available. My specialties include English, Math, and Science. On a collegiate level, I also specialize in Psychology and Chemistry. I welcome emails to find out more information about my credentials.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

ADD/ADHD

I am an advisor for a treatment program at a psychiatric facility and I work directly with patients dealing with several mental disorders, including ADD/ADHD. For the past three years, I have also been working with children suffering from this disorder and I am patient and well informed about the disorder in a way that allows me to effectively keep people suffering from this engaged in the learning process.

Chemistry

I have a Chemistry minor from my undergraduate college and I absolutely love the field of Chemistry. I am a analytical individual so Chemistry and Math are my specialities.

Grammar

I love to write and therefore I also do a lot of proofreading to ensure that my words are accurately expressed. I have a keen eye for grammar and I have always been able to assist other students in expanding their grammatical abilities.

Philosophy

Philosophy is a very interested and dynamic field that requires some time and dedication on the individual's part to understand it. I love philosophy because of that reason and I am willing and able to share this passion with students in need of learning more about this field.

Proofreading

I love English and writing and am very skilled in the subjects. I am knowledgeable about proofreading and I have the tools to help students succeed in this area.

Psychology

My entire undergraduate and graduate career have involved studying psychology and I absolutely love everything about the subject. I currently work for a psychiatric facility and I am constantly undergoing new training to keep up to date on the field.

Study Skills

I will teach you how to effectively study any given subject by using basic time management and weekly planning skills. Study skills are an essential asset to any great student and will help you to excel in your subjects. I have learned the essence of effective studying through trial and error and I have taught students how to study properly by planning an appropriate schedule and sticking to it, focusing on strengths and building them. I have used this skills regularly while teaching college level courses. We will focus on how to listen and take proper notes and how to prepare for learning a new subject before you have even been introduced to it. I also will work with you on developing review sheets.

Vocabulary

I love learning new words and helping show others unique and creative ways to acquire a larger vocabulary.
