We like Mr. P. a lot. He is very patient with Vanessa because she can be a handful but he handles her very well and she likes working with him also. Looking forward to continuing tutoring during the school year.
We've only had a few lessons with Mr. P. and I really like his teaching style. He is very patient, soft spoken, yet firm when my son tries to be silly with his writing assignment. I like that he sends us a detailed summary by e-mail after each class. And that he covers that summary with me before he leaves our home. This gives me a chance to ask him questions in person.
Mr. Parnell is doing a great job. Once again, thorough, patient, and has valuable insight in STAAR and teaching structures. My son likes him and knows that Mr. Parnell is there to help him. He used to be very fidgety and unfocused. He now gets right down to business and his work his improving.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
