I have 30 years of experience teaching Financial and Management Accounting at HCC. Plus, I have many years of hands-on experience in accounting in the private industry. I have the ability to break down each chapter's content and make it easy to understand. If you don't have the basics completely understood, you will not do well in this subject.
I have a graphic called Pregnant ALICE that makes the basics of accounting very easy to understand and which you will use in future accounting courses to allow you to handle any accounting situation. If you really want to understand this subject, please contact me.
I can also help students who are studying managerial economics and are having trouble with the math such as understanding the slope of a line, understanding the graphic of the x and y coordinates, finding the break even points in units and dollars, and understanding the difference between full absorption and variable costing methods.
I consider tutoring a job; thus I expect the student to keep the appointment time. If a student doesn't show up at the appointment or cancels an appointment I reserve the right to charge you an hour's worth of time. My objective is to make you a better student of accountancy and a better user of QuickBooks. You will get my undivided attention. Paul is a very helpful tutor and true professional! He is very personable and we connected immediately! I now have a good grasp on Financial Accounting, thanks Paul!
Paul is a very patient teacher. He thoroughly reviewed concepts and made difficult topics relevant. I highly recommend Paul.
Paul is very professional and easy to understand. I will continue to work with him. He makes learning the "tough stuff" fun and easy!
I took a few tutoring lessons with Paul at the HCC campus and he was very helpful and friendly. Paul makes the accounting material much easier and is very prompt with setting up the sessions. I would have liked to take more lessons with him but due to time constraints with other classes I did not have the opportunity to sign up for more courses. Nevertheless, having an experienced person like Paul really helps a student with a non accounting background. I wouldn't hesitate to reach out to him again if needed for other Accounting/Finance courses.
Paul B. is good tutor that will explain the subject of accounting in a different perspective and provides different examples to better understand accounting. Easy to contact and is flexible with schedule times.
I was lucky to have him as my tutor. He not only helped me grading my project for every single detail, but he also had a very nice and humorous personality.
He carried his tutoring with responsibility and was reliable. I would come back to him if I have any future questions about accounting and tax. Highly recommended!
Paul did a fantastic job tutoring my son in accounting. Very positive attitude and I would recommend him to everyone!! Great tutor....
I have worked extensively with Mr B. in both a classroom setting and outside as a private tutor for what has developed in to a decision to pursue a Masters in Accounting. I went from being near dropping the class to saving my grade and receiving an A in an accelerated summer school course, that would have been impossible with out his patience, persistence, and aid. Many tutors, and even teachers have tremendous experience in the finance and accounting world, yet as I'm sure many have found this does not always allow them to be the greatest teachers. Mr. B. not only has a tremendous amount of experience in the private sector, but also has taken the time to learn how to, very acutely distill the difficult theory of accounting and finance into simple, easily manageable concepts, accessible to even the most under-prepared, and unfamiliar of students. I could not have passed my course, nor continued to maintain my grade in my current course without his assistance.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
Accounting is a very easy subject to learn. There are only 5 major categories of accounts into which you place financial transactions. Once you learn them you just have to learn the vocabulary of the subject and how to think like an accountant.
Once you get through the first 4 or 5 chapters the rest of Financial Accounting textbook is a dissection of the Income Statement and Balance Sheet. The Managerial Accounting textbook is packed full of everyday business knowledge.
It is NOT neurosurgery.
I have been tutoring in accounting for WyzAnt for the past 18 months or so and I have created and maintained a very good reputation. So much of the business world has to do with accounting that I would appreciate a look at what a customer who submits the word "business" has a problem with. Could it be an accounting related problem? If so I would be happy to tutor that person. Sometimes students can not or are not specific in their needs which leaves a gray area for tutors. If I can't help them then I will advise them as to where I think their weakness is and suggest they take a different approach.
I can be helpful to them in writing papers, Excel, and other peripheral areas.
I have worked with QuickBooks for the past 5 years with experience in the Enterprise level down to the Online service. I'm completely comfortable with this software because I am very competent with accounting. I am comfortable running an organization's books on either the Cash or Accrual method, even though I prefer the Accrual method. I believe that QuickBooks users should use the Vendor and Client/Customer files in order to capture historical info on those accounts.
Chart of Account structure is very important and should not be an after-thought; the better planning on the COA the better off you will be.
QuickBooks offers a good variety of options and users should use them to their benefit.
If you need your QuickBooks to run correctly and efficiently and I can help you achieve those goals. I am not afraid to tutor your staff so that either all or part of the work can be done in-house so you can keep your costs low.
Paul B. passed a background check on 11/23/14. The check was ordered by another user through First Advantage. For more information, please review the background check information page.
After sending a message to Paul, you will be able to order a new background check for $7.99. As part of your tutor selection process, we encourage you to run updated background checks. Please also review the safety tips for hiring tutors.
