I currently teach at San Jacinto College North Campus in Houston. I spent ten years as a reader for the College Board AP Language and Composition exam. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Art History

As a Liberal Arts Educator with a Master's Degree, I have extensive experience with Fine Arts, particularly Renaissance, Impressionist, and Post-Impressionist Painting and the historical periods and cultural milieu in which the artists created their work. I am also schooled in Greek and Roman sculpture and architecture, all areas which I have taught both formally and informally. I also paint and sculpt myself, and though an amateur, I have extensive knowledge of art criticism and am able to evaluate line, composition, color, texture, materials and point of view for analysis and instructional purposes. I am also familiar with and a student of Art Criticism and have tutored students in Art, and other subjects for Academic Decathlon and at the college level.

Bible Studies

Dear Students:

As a career educator, I am currently a student at the Spiritual Direction Institute of the Cenacle Retreat House here in Houston where I am in year two of the three-year program leading to certification as a Spiritual Director. The Cenacle Retreat House is also a Catholic Convent run by the International Sisterhood of the Cenacle nuns. The Cenacle literally means the Upper Room.

There I am completing rigorous course work in theology, both Catholic and Protestant Christology as well as techniques for Spiritual Direction.

My experience includes teaching the Rites of Christian Initiation for Adults, serving as parish Lector Trainer and Coordinator, and Pre-Lenten and Advent Retreat presenter.

If you're looking for one-on-one Spiritual Companionship and Instruction, I will be happy to assist you. My approach to all consultations is Christian-oriented and fees are negotiable.

Religion

Dear Students:
I am very familiar with major world religions, including Hindi, Islam, Buddhist and Christian faiths on an academic level. A student of philosophy, I can explore the ranges with you from Pagan and Greek mythology to both agnostic and Christian existentialism.
