I am a native Spanish Teacher with a Masters Degree in Translation from English-to-Spanish and Spanish-to-English from the University of Puerto Rico. When I first came to Texas, 25 years ago, I taught Spanish to high school students at St. Pius X catholic school in Houston. I became a teacher with HISD when I obtained my Teacher Certificate for Elementary Education. I have been a Teacher until my retirement two years ago. when tutoring, I evaluate my students to decide at what level they are in the acquisition of the language and based on that and on the curriculum of their school I will decide which lessons are appropriate. Some schools expect more grammar than conversational language or vice versa and I will emphasize either of the two. In general, my students will improve quickly if they are interested in learning. I have been tutoring high school students for three years now and all my students have made considerable improvement in their grades. I have taught Spanish with the Bilingual Institute in Houston and with Crossing Borders also in Houston. I have a very natural enjoyment for teaching my language as well as a lot of caring for my students. I believe the latter two are the main reasons for my students' success.
