Student Feedback for Mary

"Works to understand his needs"

- Sandee for Chase from League City, TX

Mary is doing a great job of analyzing what the needs are, and how to meet those needs. She truly enjoys what she does. When a teenager likes an adult, that alone says so much about the adult!

"Incredible Tutor!"

- Lisa from Houston, TX

Mary is an outstanding tutor who sincerely cares! She meet weekly with my son regarding the challenges he is having in English IV. She has devised a plan to get him where he needs to be in order to be successful in his senior year and upcoming college years. She is very communicative and responsive with feedback immediately following each tutoring session. I highly recommend Mary as a tutor, you won't be disappointed!

"Very patient and great tutor."

- Theresa from Friendswood, TX

I was very pleased with Mary M. She is very patient with my child and he really likes her. He told me that he really had fun learning today.

"Great Tutor"

- Micah from Baytown, TX

We meet at the library. She had a lot of information for me. She is well spoken and very prepared. Gave me some ideas for me to think about. Great experience.

"Very helpful and organized."

- Amy from League City, TX

I came to Mary with a first grader who has a handwriting and spelling weakness. Since tutoring his spelling grade has improved 9 points and his handwriting is turning a corner. She's been very patient with him in teaching him stroke technique and trying different strategies to help it all take root in his brain. She even comes up with her own "lessons" to aid him that are different from the teacher. I've been very pleased in her knowledge of how kids learn and what's normal vs. not quite normal. Her observations were very well documented and helped in getting him evaluated for possible dyslexia. He's not but we did discover a below average ability in handwriting and Mary is willing and able to learn new strategies that the diagnostician gave us.

"Mary IS THE BEST!"

- Melissa from Pearland, TX

We lucked out in choosing Mary as our tutor. She is the best! Mary makes tutoring FUN. She is soft spoken, patient and enjoys teaching. I could not be more pleased, she comes prepared to every session. She always has useful information and handouts that she gives me to review and she brings my son stickers and colorsheets as a reward for doing well in his tutoring session. Mary has made a great impact with our son and his learning ability. I cannot thank her enough!

"Outstanding tutor and communicator"

- Linda from Pearland, TX

Our daughter was in need of tutoring to assist with obtaining a higher SAT score for becoming a student/athlete in college.

Mary was selected based on her outstanding academic background in teaching reading/writing skills. From day 1, Mary has been completely engaged in the process of tutoring our daughter for the SAT. In addition to the current needs, Mary is preparing our daughter for being successful in college.

She is a great communicator, providing emails in the tutoring session content and progress. Every lesson, our daughter feels like she came away better at her weaknesses.

As a parent, I like want to know if the time and money is well spent. With the feedback Mary provides and the positive comments from our daughter, I would highly recommend Mary for any and all reading/writing tutoring.

"Wonderful tutor!"

- Gerald from Atlanta, GA

Mary was a wonderful tutor. She helped my son with his reading, writing, and grammar issues while we considered if he might be dyslexic or have attention-deficit issues. He became more confident after each lesson. She was very patient and he really enjoyed working with her. I would highly recommend Mary's services.

"Great tutor and very patient!"

- Jessica from Houston, TX

Mary is a great tutor. She is currently helping my 5 year old daughter Spanish. Mary has different techniques rather than just reading straight out of a book. My daughter is very pleased and looks forward to every lesson.

Mary replied on 11/2/2012:

Your daughter is a quick-learner as well as being precocious! I am having such fun teaching her.

"Very helpful!"

- Christi from Houston, TX

Mary was a very good choice of tutors for my 15 year old son. He does not like to write and needs to re-take the STARR test this summer. Mary was very helpful in this process. She was very flexible with the times we met. We met at the local library for the sessions, which turned out to be a convenient location and the study room was a good learning environment. We will continue to use Mary as a tutor would highly recommend Mary to others needing help.

"Thank you for all the help you have given me with Teas-reading!"

- Nina from League City, TX

I would like to say thanks a lot to Mrs. Mary. I am pleased to have the opportunity to obtain from Mrs. Mary all necessary training material for my TEAS reading test, and I especially appreciate the information and advices she has shared with me. Mrs. Mary helped get me organized my skills, and what is more important, focused on my mistakes during the reading. Her assistance has been invaluable to me for this section.

"Very nice and patient"

- Vivien from Houston, TX

Mary is a very nice tutor. She was very patient and has of a very good way of explaining the lesson. My 8 year old nephew really enjoy it when I honestly thought the opposite. He is looking forward to his next lesson.

"Very Knowledgeable and Relates to the Student Well"

- Patrick from League City, TX

Mary did a fantastic job with the time she spent with my daughter. My daughter left the sessions more confident in her ability and with a reduced stress level of knowing the required subject matter. If you are looking for a quality tutor that can relate to students and the anxieties, pressures and demands of the education system, I would recommend Mary.

"Excellent tutor if you need help with LAB REPORTS, RESEARCH PAPERS, PRESENTATIONS, and ESSAYS"

- Kherlen from Sugar Land, TX

Ms. Mary M is a wonderful person; she is very kind and patient. I have always had trouble writing essays and lab reports since English is not my first language; but I figured that a lot of native speakers face the same problem. My experience with the tutoring centers at the two schools I have attended was horrible. Tutors on campus never give insightful advice when they read your paper. Also they do not edit or correct your mistakes; they would simply mark them wrong and leave them up to you to correct. However, that does not help when you have a very important paper due. Therefore, I would usually get a B on a paper that I was supposed get A, if I didn't make tons of grammar and/or sentence structure errors. This time I had to write a review on a very famous research study done by more than twenty scientists and professors from the world's most famous schools, such as the University of Oxford. Their calculation was simply wrong, however, in order to prove that, I had to submit an excellent review paper without any mistakes. My research paper will be published soon. Before talking to Ms. Mary M, I contacted several other tutors at WyzAnt who did not respond back in timely manner. I was very disappointed. However, Mary called me back after I e-mailed her for the first time, she finished editing my paper on the same day, and above all, she gives excellent advice from the bottom of her heart. I am very satisfied with the new edition of the paper and I feel very respected. We did not meet in person and that's what I was looking for. I just needed someone who can polish my research paper. My paper was about 9 pages long but she charged me for only three hours. I highly recommend Ms. Mary M.!!!

"Very helpful and patient!"

- Rosalyn from Baytown, TX

My son is a procrastinator and shy. He will not give you lots of information about the things he needs to do, which makes it difficult to tutor him. Mary was is very patient with him and she is helping to guide him through his project. I am very thankful that we found Mary.

"Great tutor!"

- De'Marcus from Webster, TX

She helped me to critically read and comprehend passages on the GMAT. She is very patient and I would highly recommend her.

"Great Tutor"

- Mache from Pearland, TX

Ms. M. is such an amazing person. She has really helped me improve my writing skills. I had three papers due, all in one month, and on the same day. She was very patient with helping me, and helped me with all three papers. She responded in a timely manner and was always on time for our sessions. She really wanted to help me became a better writer. She is so passionate and I really appreciate her time. I have noticed the difference in my writing.

"Patient & organized!"

- Laura from League City, TX

Mary was very detailed in how she could help my daughter when she responded to my initial inquiry. She was very flexible with scheduling the day & time for the sessions. She was patient & detailed during the first session with my daughter. She is excited for her next lesson with Mary!

"Mary M. "

- Joe from Houston, TX

In just three meetings Mary has helped me learn how to prepare for upcoming presentations where I will be expected to speak publicly. She has showed me where knowing my subject and preparing is giving me confidence toward public speaking that I never had before. Thanks Mary.

"Extremely nice and knowledgeable!"

- Tonya from Pearland, TX

Mrs. M, was extremely flexible with scheduling lessons. Her responses are prompt via email and/or telephone call. She was very easy to communicate with and values your time. She was very helpful with my son's struggle in Spanish with verb conjugations. After two one hour lessons with Mary, my son feels very confident in taking his Spanish final today. We will see how he fairs today on his Spanish final. Will keep you posted. Thanks Mary. God Bless you.

"Prepared, patient, reachable. Not for GMAT - Critical Reasoning"

- Joseph from League City, TX

Mary M. was very helpful in guiding me to setting up proper account through this service. Once account was set up, she was reachable and approachable by telephone to schedule a tutoring session. Upon arrival at the library, I found that she was prepared with study material. After reading through study material, we started to negotiate Critical Reasoning questions for the GMAT test preparation. Our styles in approaching these questions differed immensely. I have an analytical mindset, and try to focus on the question at hand. I found that she approached the questions in a manner more synthetic than what was helpful to me for Critical Reasoning. For example, she would take information from worldly inferences/assumptions, but would not use the evidence specifically given in the argument.

In my humble opinion, she is professional, prepared, and patient. For a younger mindset, which would benefit from soft encouragement and synthetic cognitive skills, she would offer a great service as a tutor and a mentor.

Mary replied on 11/19/2011:

I enjoyed helping Joseph C. from League City. I have worked with adult women and men, college males, high school and middle school males and females, as well as preschoolers, during my year-and-a-half career as an independent tutor with Wyzant. I was so glad to learn something very important from Joseph C.'s comments about our first-and-only session. When I face a client who controls the reading and analyzing of critical-reasoning material (whether the GRE exam, which I formerly took and passed without the help of the manuals, or the GMAT, SAT, PSAT, ACT, or GED preparation books), I cannot reason as well as when I sit beside him or her, reading the material in concert and separately. I worked diligently to communicate with Joseph during the one session, however, even though I felt at odds with the situation. After all, reasoning critically is very important to our success in life. Critical reasoning is an objective we all wish to attain, but not at the expense of criticizing or judging another based upon our innate opinions and motivations. In my humble opinion, I have found his review to be more critical and limiting than analytical, open-ended, and encouraging.

"Very Patient"

- Beth from Friendswood, TX

My daughter was struggling with Spanish and we found Ms. Mary. She is very organized and dependable, and I always get a note that describes what they covered that night. My daughter says she makes it fun, and she comes up with some great new concepts to learn with.

"Keeps parents will inform on progress"

- Janell from Seabrook, TX

Mary has been working with our son on his SAT and ACT testing. He has enjoyed her very much and feels she has helped with different techniques to take the test.

"Great Tutor"

- Carrie from League City, TX

Mary is a great tutor, she tutored my son in both English and Spanish during his Sophmore year and we plan to continue with her in the future. She is very intelligent and knoweldgable. She is always prepared for the sessions and often brings additional material from her own collection. It is always easy to communicate with Mary, she is redily available via phone or email. Thanks to Mary, my son has improved in both subjects and had a very successful Sophmore year.

"Great Coach & Extremely Knowledgeable!"

- DIANA from Baytown, TX

My 16-yr old son is an Honor Student in AP English. He has been seeing Mary since August 2010. My son has a tremendous amount of outside reading and was in need of a reading coach. WOW! I hit the jackpot when I found Ms. Mary through WyzAnt! She is amazing and my son really enjoys tutoring sessions with her and his English annotation & timed writing grades have improved significantly. I am so pleased because my son dreaded reading and would always do things as a "crash course." Ms. Mary is showing my son how to plan his reading out doing a little at a time which will help him remember his material better. I plan on keeping Ms. Mary with us till my son graduates in May 2012.

Mary replied on 7/19/2011:

Diana's sons and I have established clear learning goals during the last year. As I meet individually with each son, I see him following through with his essays and other critical writings and readings. These high school students have set realistic goals for themselves and they stick to their established work ethic. Their parents are consistently promoting their efforts and ensuring that they reach their individual potential.

"Ms.Mary M is a high level professional and dedicated teacher."

- Oksana from Houston, TX

Mary has played an important role in my educational process. With her help I passed the TOEFL test. During a test, I was very cogent in answering questions. As a result, I received 90% on writing section.
I had 15 hours with Ms. Mary. Within this short time she did a fabulous work with me. With her unique method of teaching, she gave me directions how to develop my reading, listening, writing and speaking skills. Especially, I was amazed about her method on a essay writing. Ms.Mary helped me to interpret my essay from my point of view. She explained techniques on how to structure an essay. My teacher, also, offered me several exercises how to build my speech which I enjoyed doing a lot. Ms. Mary challenged me to think critically about improving my diction as well as my usage of grammar. She corrected my pronunciation issues.
Ms. Mary is a high level professional and dedicated teacher. I felt comfortable during her lessons. I would recommend her for both, beginners and high level of English learners. I have never met person with such of rich vocabulary. Working with Mary improved my confidence in learning English.

Oksana

Mary replied on 7/19/2011:

Oksana clearly communicated her personal and business goals from the beginning. She had already set bigger expectations for herself by pursuing a GMAT program. Her family encouraged her to succeed. She is a fabulous listener, patiently allowing me to correct her pronunciation and listening to my suggestions on other essay methods, knowing that, ultimately, I would want her to express her own thoughts in her own way.
