Dear Potential Student,

My name is Deepak, and I am a mechanical engineer by profession in the Houston Area. I have decided to become a tutor because it is my passion to help people and to be part of the learning process. I consider myself very easy to get along with, and I always find a way to make students understand new material because I will relate the information to you in a way that makes sense to you.

My Educational Background:
I have a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, a Minor in Math, and I am certified in nuclear physics and echocardiography. I have worked as a mechanical engineer for over 10 years. My strengths include advanced math, calculus, trigonometry, algebra, geometry, technical writing, all microsoft office products and proofreading. Being that I am an engineer, I pay very close attention to details. I went to school in Lubbock, Texas and graduated from Texas Tech University. Additionally, I have a few graduate classes under my belt, so I also know the demands of writing that are required by graduate level courses.

My Experience Background:
I have worked at S&B Engineers and Constructors, Ltd. for the last 10+ years, in which time I have built a solid reputation for myself with my knowledge and application of all computer networking and productivity programs. I am an expert at power point, word, excel, etc. My best feature in my experience is my ability to help you understand the material in your own way. At work, I have created a Mentor Program. In this program, I have taught several new employees how to use our companies' systems, workflow processes, and general use of our internal applications.

My Teaching Methods:
I am a very patient person, and I am extremely reliable as a teacher. I believe that repetition is key when learning new material. I love to write, and proofread my colleagues work. I believe proofreading is essential when doing any kind of problem or assignment. My skills can be applied to elementary kids all the way up to collegiate level and beyond. I have a unique blend of computer skills and social skills that make me hard to pass up on. As it is, I am always helping my close friends with their work just because it makes me happy to see people succeed.

My Availability:
I am free all day on Fridays, and would prefer to meet at convenient locations such as Bookstores or coffee shops. Also, I can be available on weekends. I can also meet during my lunch break on weekdays.

My Philosophy:

Algebra 1

What can I say about Algebra, other than it is the cornerstone of all advanced mathematics. Calculus, Trig, Geometry and others hinge on your understanding of the fundamentals of algebra. Vocabulary

I could write a long paragraph about all the big words I know, but thats not the point of vocabulary. I see expanding ones vocabulary as a way to communicate better, and not only to sound smart, but to actually know what you're saying. Sometimes the best word to fill in the blank isn't the longest or toughest to spell, its the word that makes the most sense. My take on vocabulary is that one should use it wisely and with a conservative temperament.

Grammar

Have you ever found a misspelled word on a public flyer or brochure and it irked you? Have you ever downloaded computer software and the grammar was so bad it made you question the software's integrity? Don't be one of the perpetrators of this would be illegal crime. Learn your grammar! Learn how to make sentences effective, understand what a thesis can do for you. Spell check! Learn about subjects and verbs and why they are so important. Just ask Yoda!

Microsoft Excel

I have over 15 years of experience with using all versions of Microsoft Excel. I use the program daily for my profession, and I've developed stock portfolios, project databases, forms, macros, and multi-stage dynamic linking spreadsheets. I'm proficient with formulas and financial minded worksheets.

My teaching style is hands-on and I believe in positive reinforcement with constant practice.

Geometry

Pythagorean Theorem, more laws than the constitution itself. Geometry at face value is a bunch of shapes and angles, but the root of geometry is a complex math. When you truly learn Geometry you'll be able to look at nearly any shape (in math and in life) and figure out angles, percentages, and lengths.
