An experienced Writing Center Tutor at Houston Community College, I have had a high level of success with all levels of college and high school students, including Academic/ Developmental English, and ESL. I have experience in tutoring elementary students in reading skill and I have worked with students on a wide variety of writing projects including narratives, creative writing, and literary analysis. I help at all levels from brainstorming for topics, ensuring that the requirements of the assignment are being met, and MLA format and citation. Adept at student-focused teaching, I am able to very quickly access the student's English level and writing aptitude, identify grammatical/sentence structure problems, and devise lesson plans to correct these problems. I connect well with students and the nature of the help I provide increasing their confidence in all levels of English, especially in writing.
