Hi, I'm Ben. I graduated magna cum laude from high school in the 98th percentile for my SAT scores, and recently graduated with honors from The University of Texas at Austin with a BS in Physics. I scored in top percentiles on the GRE, and got an 800 (77th percentile) on the Physics GRE.
I was a TA for four years in physics classes where my entire job was student interaction. The aforementioned classes were small and for nontechnical majors, so I am extremely proficient at communicating ideas even to students who might not be masters of scientific and mathematical concepts. The classes also involved the regular holding of office hours, where I would have extended one-on-one time with students. I also held one-on-one tutoring with a student in a major's level introductory mechanics class. I received excellent student evaluations in all classes where they were given.
On the General GRE, I scored a 660 (93rd percentile) on the Verbal Reasoning section, a 780 (88th percentile) on the Quantitative Reasoning section, and a 6.0 (99th percentile) in the writing section, indicating my broad skill set.
On the Physics GRE, I scored an 800 (77th percentile), indicating that I did better than more than 3/4 of prospective physics graduate students.
I am available every day of the week, though occasionally a Saturday--of which you would be made aware well in advance--may come up. I will be available until mid August, at which point I will begin a PhD program at Georgia Tech. I expect to be generally available in the summers.
I am able to work at least 4 hours a day, and probably more on the order of 6, if the work is available. I generally prefer to work in the afternoons and evenings, but exceptions would not be difficult to make.
Note: I usually respond very, very quickly! I had an inactive account for a long time, and the "usually responds in..." seems to have counted that idle time in its calculations.
