I am a native Japanese speaker who attended Georgetown University and graduated from Aoyama University,a bona fide Japanese university in Tokyo. I have taught Japanese and Japanese culture in Japan,Guam, and in the United States. For several years I taught businessmen, elementary, high school and university students in the Los Angeles area. I have worked with at-risk students in Virginia and received sparkling evaluations. I was invited to return teaching in that program.
My English is excellent, almost native, and I love teaching both Japanese and English. My methodology is geared to the needs and desires of the student. Although I believe in coordinating the four skills of reading, listening, speaking, and writing, I have special strategies for accelerating oral communication in Japanese.
Since my husband is a university and high school teacher of languages, we have access to many materials that are difficult to obtain here. I collaborated with my husband in writing a TOEIC textbook for Japanese students. Again, my materials would be based on the age, need, and desire of the students. I use the traditional Japanese that is spoken in Tokyo and in academic settings. I also have worked in the business field using Japanese and English in jobs with Mitsubishi and Trust banking and Fidelity securities. In addition, I have worked part-time in Guam for a prestigious hotel firm, assisting clients in both English and Japanese. I am very enthusiastic and eager to teach students interested in Japanese.
