Hello,

I am an information technology professional who also conducts tutoring and teaches as an adjunct math professor during my off-hour time.

I hold a Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics and a Master's Degree in Operations Research. I have the pleasure of being a Mathematics adjunct professor, teaching college coursework in calculus/pre-calculus and Algebra, statistics, quantitative analysis and business math. I also have WyzAnt experience tutoring high school students in algebra and geometry. I am a very patient instructor with an easy going, professional demeanor. I do not feel professionally satisfied unless my students fully internalize the subject matter at hand. I do my best work in a 1:1 setting.

I am also a retired Navy Captain (O-6), new to the Houston area.

Regards and Best

Alvin

Mr. Alvin is a awesome tutor. He was a perfect fit for my son. He was very patient and was able to brake the Geometry down for my son to have a clear understanding of the material. My son liked Mr. Alvin so much that he was asking for him to come instead of me asking my son if the tutor was needed. Mr. Alvin was able to move my son through the difficult unit of study and my son's grade went up by two letters. Awesome! I am so happy and pleased with Mr. Alvin and will use him again for the next difficult unit of study we may encounter.

Alvin was so great in helping me prepare for the Statistics Competency Exam. He clearly knows his statistics, is a very patient teacher, and is a kind and gentle person. I highly recommend Alvin for anyone who may not be so confident in their knowledge or ability to absorb statistics. He has a way of making it easy. Thank you Alvin so very much. You are the BEST.

Alvin has been a great tutor. He is very patient-even when I need a lot of review on the same topic! He has helped me work through 3 courses of college level math so far!

Approved subjects are in **bold**.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

To whom it may concern,

Please add Discrete Math to my list of qualified subjects. I am a classically trained Mathematician degreed from the United States Air Force Academy (B.S - Applied Mathematics) and received a Master of Science degree from the Naval Post Graduate School (M.S. Operations Research). In the past 20 years, I have used my training to teach as a mathematics adjunct professor and tutor students in both linear algebra and discrete math. I am well qualified to tutor these subjects both in theory and practice.

Respectfully submitted,

Alvin D. S.

x, x+1, x+2 are the consecutive integers product of which is equal to 336 x * x +1 * x + 2 = x (x^2 + 3x + 2) = x^3 + 3 x^2 + 2x = 336 x^3 + 3 x^2 + 2x - 336 = 0 From here you have to test potential roots of f(x)...
