Hi, My name is Denise. I have lived in the Hico area for 3 years now. My main reason for being in this area is so that my daughter can grow up near her grandparents. Family is very important. She can learn a lot from her family here and that is also important.

I have a Masters Degree in Accounting so I'm great with numbers. I had a boss once who wanted me to learn all of the Microsoft products. So, he let me sit down and do it on my own. I did great this way, learned to ask questions and also attended some training classes. However, everyone learns differently. I learned this when I started training people on using these products and other software products. As a teacher/trainer I have to be able to adapt to the students' style. This takes good communication skills as well.

I can do pivot tables, charts and graphs and all kinds of formulas to manipulate data in Excel. Excel is a very powerful tool and I'm sure nobody uses it to its full potential. I am good with creating PowerPoint presentations from the data in Excel and I can use Word to create all kinds of documents.

Phonics

I am currently working with my 5 year old daughter on phonics so that she can learn to read. She is currently reading a book a day and phonics has been a tremendous help in her sounding out words that are not just the words she is studying for the week but words she sees in other places. I would start with the vowels and then work with putting consonants with those vowels.
