¡Hola! I'm Lisa and I have 40 hours of Ph.D. coursework in Hispanic Studies, my Master's is in Education and Spanish and my Bachelor's Degree is in Spanish. I also have a current Teaching Certificate in the State of Texas for Secondary Education in Spanish. I have studied in Spain and Mexico and love teaching the language and culture to people of all ages. I am not a native speaker but I believe that gives me an edge because I remember learning the language myself. I know what it's like to be starting out learning a language from the beginning and, accompanied with my education, I am well-equipped to answer a lot of the questions that students usually have that native speakers may not be able to explain. I have been teaching since 2001 and have taught in many environments, everything from a homeschooling group of 4- and 5-year-olds to college level. I taught high school for two years and college for 3 years. I decided to quit pursuing my Ph.D. because I am just not interested in research and simply want to teach. Teaching has always and will always be my number one passion. I personalize my tutoring sessions to meet your needs and desired learning outcomes, as well as your preferred learning style when possible. I am very versatile with my teaching and the teaching can be as formal or informal as you like. The great thing about individual lessons is that it is catered to your exact needs! I am also willing to teach to groups as well if everyone is at a similar level. Group sessions would be at a discounted rate. Please contact me and I can answer any questions you may have!
