11 years ago, I picked up a guitar and began my life-long pursuit of music. This pursuit has led me in a wide variety of directions. Today, I am the worship leader for Living Life Church, a private guitar instructor at Covenant Christian Academy and Creative Guitar Learning, a performing musician, and a freelance producer/film-composer. Some of my credits and projects are available on my LinkedIn profile.

I have a passion for a wide variety of styles of music. For several years, I was the lead guitarist, singer, and songwriter for multiple independent bands, the most notable being an indie psychedelic band called Tod The Fox. I have led worship for Grace Fellowship UMC, Brazos Pointe Church, Bear Creek Community Church, The Cornerstone college ministry at UTA, and the BSM at UTA in varying capacities. At UTA, I studied Jazz and Classical guitar under acclaimed guitarists Sam Walker and Billy Robertson. Here, I also studied theory, piano, sight-singing, and music-production extensively. I graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Music-Media from UTA.

Lessons with me will vary significantly from student to student. Not only does every student have different goals in mind, they all learn differently as well. I do my best to customize my lessons for each student's goals and needs. A typical guitar, bass, or piano lesson may involve music-reading, chord studies, technical work, scale practice, and theory.

As a teacher, I consider myself a healthy balance between professional and light-hearted. As much as I want to make efficient use of the lesson-time, my primary goal is for the student to truly understand and enjoy music.

Jordan’s subjects

Composition (Music)

I have been writing music since I was 15 years old. I wrote nearly all of the material (music and lyrics) for multiple rock bands in high school. I write my own worship music for my church, and I made A's in multiple composition, theory, and orchestration classes during my music degree at UTA. I have also done contract scoring for two short films, one of which ("Searching Serenity") is currently playing in the Orlando Film Festival.

Ear Training

As a Music Major at The University of Texas at Arlington, I was required to take 4 semesters of highly challenging ear-training classes. I also completed complex transcriptions and improvisations based on ear-training. I graduated Magna Cum Laude with a 3.89 GPA.

General Music

This past May I graduated Magna Cum Laude with Bachelor of Fine Arts in Music/Media from The University of Texas at Arlington. I teach private guitar lessons for Covenant Christian Academy in Colleyville as well as lead worship for Living Life Church in Allen. At school I received a very well-rounded music education and excelled especially in composition and theory courses.

Guitar

I am a private guitar lessons instructor at Covenant Christian Academy, the Worship Leader for Living Life Church, and guitar was my primary instrument during my Undergraduate music degree at UTA. I have also played guitar and led worship for Grace Fellowship UMC in Katy, Bear Creek Community Church in Houston, Brazos Pointe Church in Mineral Wells, The Cornerstone at UTA in Arlington, and Fellowship of the Parks in Keller. I have also played guitar on several studio tracks and albums.

Music History

As a music major at UTA, I was required to take 2 semesters of music history and one semester of music literature. Thus, I know what it takes to do well in a music history course.

Music Production

As a music media major at UTA, my primary focus, outside of general music, was recording technology. As such, I took three semesters of recording techniques, two semesters of independent study, one internship doing live sound, and acoustics classes. I have a small portfolio of recording/mixing/mastering projects I completed at school, as well as a few that I have done since.

Piano

As a music major at UTA, I was required to take four semesters of functional piano. I have also played piano for worship teams and rock bands in the past. I use piano on a daily basis for arranging and composing. I consider myself fit to tutor beginner through intermediate students.

Sight Singing

As a Music Major at The University of Texas at Arlington, I was required to take 4 semesters of highly challenging sight singing classes. In fact, I also entered into an honors contract with my sight-singing teacher which allowed me to do extra work for honors credit. I also sang in choir for 6 semesters, which requires sight-singing on a regular basis. I graduated Magna Cum Laude with a 3.89 GPA.

Songwriting

I have been writing music since I was 15 years old. I wrote nearly all of the material (music and lyrics) for multiple rock bands in high school. I write my own worship music for my church, and I made A's in multiple composition, theory, and orchestration classes during my music degree at UTA.
